The 2026 Adirondack Butoh Summit was a special gathering of artist friends from New York City, Montreal, and the Adirondacks for a weekend residency at Salem Art Works (SAW) and the Cary Hill Sculpture Park, in Salem, NY. I knew the sculpture park, and SAW’s unique grounds would be an extraordinary place to collaborate and explore site-specific and site-responsive performance.
The weekend brought together artists Paula Jeanine Bennett, Kevin Segal, and myself, Katherine Adamenko, with support from Salem Art Works Director of Programs Nicco Eneidi. We discovered the Train Depot Gallery, co-led a Butoh workshop for resident artists, and found ourselves in several impromptu and magical collaborations. We were grateful to capture much of the weekend on video, with more to be shared soon and a gallery of our work together below.
