The 2026 Adirondack Butoh Summit brings together artists from the Adirondacks, New York City, and Montreal for a weekend residency at Salem Art Works in Salem, New York.
Conceived as an exploratory next chapter for the Adirondack Butoh Festival, the Summit functions as a creative incubator for developing new work through movement research, collaboration, experimentation, and shared practice. Artists have access to indoor rehearsal and performance space as well as the full sculpture park grounds, creating opportunities to work outdoors, respond directly to the landscape and sculptures, and capture aspects of the artistic process on film.
The emphasis is on process rather than finished performance, with space for unexpected forms, collaborations, and new work to emerge over the course of the weekend. The residency also includes a butoh workshop with participating Salem Art Works resident artists.
